Arizona Department of Education - MyADE (Tech)
The Arizona Department of Education and the ASU Cloud Innovation Center (ASU CIC) have come together to support Arizona’s education goals. To do so, the ASU CIC is creating a prototype of MyADE, a tool to collect, store, share, and analyze data on attendance in schools throughout Arizona.
Problem
The Arizona Department of Education saw the opportunity to be the one true source of education data in Arizona. The State wanted to make data available to all its stakeholders to support improved data driven decision making, operations and service delivery. Previously, there was not a complete inventory of data available at the agency. ADE saw the ability to move from a siloed approach to a collaborative approach in the utilization of data. ADE’s goal is to provide stakeholders with the right access to the right data at the right time, in a way that all stakeholders can understand and analyze data both at the programmatic and enterprise levels.
Approach
The ASU CIC is working to build the prototype of MyADE, which will help school districts better understand attendance data. The prototype will feature an online attendance system that follows Arizona Department of Education standards. It will also have access to a data lake from the approved online learning systems that are used in Arizona. Local education authorities, the Arizona Department of Education, and school administrators will be able to access the tool and use the data to further Arizona’s education goals. MyADE will also feature resources for parents and students to encourage their attendance and participation.

The ASU Smart Cities Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) is a strategic relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is supported by AWS on ASU’s Innovation campus - SkySong.
